Some Recent Projects

This Cowboy boot was stitched for a sick boy who loves anything involving cowboys.   This was a recent theme for Love Quilts USA.
I enjoyed stitching this one, as it was so colorful and cheerful.  I hope the little boy loves it as much as I loved stitching it.
A Ballerina for a little girl who wants a quilt of Ballerinas.  I've stitched this one previously, so it stitched up pretty quickly.

Both of these have been mailed to the Love Quilts coordinator and will eventually be part of beautiful quilts for children.

SMALLS SAL

I finished some stitching last month, mostly while on our trip to and from Virginia to celebrate my Uncle Phil's 90th birthday celebration.  Since we never know how long we will be on this good earth, my husband and I decided on the spur of the moment to join the rest of his close-knit family to celebrate this special occasion.  He was honored by the United States Marine Corp. for his exceptional service during World War II, with an honor guard who arrived at the party to give him a special plaque and a speech by the Colonel of the unit.

Sometimes it's not easy to stitch while riding in the car, but I managed to get these small pieces finished.  They will be made into a wall hanging soon and will be donated to a care facility nearby.

Fall Stitching

I've been doing quite a bit of stitching this fall. I enjoy doing small projects, as these don't take a whole lot of time, they are usually simple designs and I can stitch more squares for charity.  The wolf design is one I've stitched previously a couple of years ago.

Bookmarks are usually quick and easy to stitch and finish.    The charities they go to really like them for the elder care residents.

Smalls SAL

My Yahoo stitching group, World of Charity Stitching, has a new theme called "Dear Jane".  The charts are geometric shapes of all kinds.  We choose which design or designs we'd like to stitch.  There are a lot of designs to choose from and some of our members are stitching several.  I've only stitched one so far, but hope to stitch a few more before this theme closes next month.  They are quick and easy to stitch.  We hope the resulting quilt or quilts where they will be used will be stunning.

I've also finished a cute little Angels collage for Love Quilts.

Stitching and Trying to Stay Cool

It's been so hot here in Northwest Florida this summer and I've been trying to stay cool by staying inside as much as possible in the cool air conditioning.  Stitching helps pass the time In the evenings while I watch t.v.  I almost always donate my stitched pieces to World of Charity Stitching or Love Quilts.  They are both wonderful organizations who bring a little sunshine into the lives of children (Love Quilts) and adults/children (WOCS).

Here are a few of my most recent stitched squares:

June Smalls SAL

As you can see, I'm still stitching for charity.  This has been a wonderful outlet for me to help others and get to stitch a lot of various squares.   Over the years, I've stitched for family and friends.  While I know they have appreciated getting these gifts, this is a limited outlet, especially for someone who loves to stitch like me.

I've been stitching for over 30 years and since my retirement in 2006, I seem to have more time for stitching and sewing.

If anyone is interested in stitching for charity, please visit World of Charity Stitching and join us in making gifts for children and seniors in care facilities.

Smalls Stitch-a-Long

I've been busy stitching for World of Charity Stitching and Love Quilts.

The ones for WOCS are what I consider small.  The Monarch Butterfly for Love Quilts is not my idea of small, but I wanted to post it for others to see.  It is a free chart from Cyberstitchers and is stitched for a little girl named Maggie, who wanted a quilt with realistic butterflies.  I enjoyed stitching it, but was glad when it was finished-whew!  There were a lot of stitches and back-stitching in that one.

2015 Smalls SAL

I found this hopscotch fabric in a basket in my craft room when I was trying to clean up and put things away and thought it would be perfect for a pretty Cardinal.  I've had the chart for a while and had never stitched it.  I will be sewing this into a pretty pillow for a senior lady (or a man might enjoy it) to be donated to a senior care facility here in Pensacola.

This piece was stitched for Love Quilts USA for a young boy who loves football and wanted a quilt made of football related squares.

Thanks to Heather of Stitching Lotus for organizing this SAL.  It helps me not so much to start and finish stitching, but to post to my blog about stitching.   I do a lot of stitching throughout most months, but I'm not always so great about posting to my blog.

January and February Stitching

These are some of the squares I've finished for January and February.  I'll be starting on new pieces very soon.

Smalls Stitch-a-Long

2015SmallsSAL Stitch-a-Long hosted by Heather at Stitching Lotus
You can join at any time of the year - this group is mainly a motivational tool to help us stay motivated to stitch.

For February, I finished a Bugs Bunny square for World of Charity Stitching. Members are stitching cartoon characters to make a quilt or two to be donated to a child (or children).  I'm sure there are a lot of ladies who remember this cartoon character.

This was fun to stitch  - I can't wait to see the finished quilt or quilts.  I finished this last night after I got home from bowling in a ladies league.  But I did a lot of the stitching while waiting my time to bowl.

I really enjoy stitching for charity, as I find it very rewarding to be able to use my stitching skills to help make gifts for others.

Valentine Cards

These are some of the Valentine cards I recently stitched and finished for World of Charity Stitching.  These pieces were easy to stitch and most were free charts I found on Pinterest or the Internet.

Each year our group makes cards to be given to seniors in care facilities.  We hope this will brighten their day.

2015 Smalls SAL

 2015SmallsSAL
I recently came across a Smalls Stitch-a-Long hosted by Heather at Stitching Lotus and decided to join in the fun.  I like to view and follow other stitching blogs to see what others are stitching and this looked like it would be fun.   Since it is already the end of January, I sent an email to Heather to see if I could join in.  She said anyone can join at any time of the year, that this is a very low pressure group.

Since I was late joining, I've decided to show one of my early January stitched squares.  This is one I stitched for World of Charity Stitching, a Yahoo group.  We are currently stitching  Flowers, Silhouettes, and Cartoon Characters themes.   This Begonia is my contribution to the Flower theme.  The squares will be assembled and mailed to one of our quilters, who will create a beautiful flower quilt or two to be donated to one of the elder care facilities that we support.
