I've been able to get quite a bit of stitching done this month. I'm trying something new this year: making a list of designs to be stitched for the month. This helps keep up with obligations (squares I've signed up to stitch for charity, Love Quilts and World of Charity Stitching), stitching I've wanted to do for a while, and different themes I'm currently working on.
As you can see, I really enjoy stitching for charity. It keeps me busy, it is a craft I love, and it helps others less fortunate. I feel blessed to be able to do this for myself and others.
I've been able to catch up on the Snowflower Diaries SAL and will start soon on the November chart, which is a beautiful peacock.

I've only done a couple of small geometric squares for a quilt for World of Charity Stitching. Everyone picks out a chart or two and stitches in the colors they choose.

I've also started on a Dachshund piece for a future quilt.
The August Snowflowers Diaries chart. I'm currently working on September and have already downloaded the October chart, which has owls as the main focus. The Lazy Daisy flowers in the August design were a pain, but I finally finished them-whew!

This is a chart I did just for fun. It went really fast and I hope to make a tote bag or pillow for a senior for World of Charity Stitching with the square as a centerpiece. I did a lot of the stitching while waiting for my hubby at a doctors appointment.

So glad I brought some stitching with me or I would have gone crazy(er) 😄. Germany (Bavaria) and Paris have been nice to visit, but I can't wait to get back home to my regular life.
The charts I finished for June technically aren't "small" but these are ones I enjoyed stitching this month. I'm getting ready to go on a long trip overseas and am taking some stitching projects along with me. I hope to be able to stitch in the airports and on the planes, but the rules and regulations are a bit confusing. We'll see how it goes. If nothing else, I'll be able to stitch in the evenings if I'm not too exhausted from all the sightseeing.

Spring is my favorite time of year - all the birds singing, finding mates, building nests, raising their brood, planting the garden and seeing new plants blooming. I confess I don't do as much stitching in the spring as I do at other times of the year, but I am still able to stitch in the evenings.

I've started making some quilts for World of Charity Stitching, so my free time is more limited than before. Even though I'm retired, there still aren't enough hours in the day for all the things I'd like to accomplish.
This month I finished the April SAL at the Snowflower Diaries. I've already downloaded the May chart and hope to start on it tomorrow evening.

I stitched this cute little wymsical owl for Love Quilts USA.

Tonight I finally finished the USA map (a free chart from Daily Cross Stitch). Our group, World of Charity Stitching, is stitching a travel theme. The pieces from various members will be made into a quilt (or quilts) for a senior in a care facility.

This is the second in a year-long series of charts graciously given to stitchers by Maja of The Snowflower Diaries. I have already started on March, which is very spring-like.
This cute little whimsical owl was stitched for Railey, a little girl who wanted owls for her quilt. Love Quilts USA is putting together a quilt of whimsical owls.

I enjoyed stitching both of these charts. Peggyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02090982010885385532noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6986724101927807560.post-56484308988627275832016-01-20T19:33:00.000-06:002016-01-20T19:36:37.413-06:00The Snowflower Diaries SAL

This cute fox and crow chart is a freebie gift from Maja of The Snowflower Diaries. She is gifting monthly charts to anyone who wishes to download and stitch them.

I am stitching these to be made into a quilt for a senior in a care facility.

I have already downloaded the February chart and hope to start on it very soon.

Stitchers can either stitch the charts on separate squares of fabric or on one whole piece of fabric. I chose to stitch them separately, as I don't like to stitch on large pieces of fabric any longer.
Now on to the new year! I've already started a new project for World of Charity Stitching. We are doing a Sweet Things theme and I am stitching some hard candy. I found the chart on Cyber-stitchers, where they have loads of free charts.

Love Quilts is re-vamping their organization with new leadership, so I'll have to wait to see what they come up with in the way of new themes for this new year.

This is a collage of most of my 2015 stitching. As you can see, I spend a lot of my free time stitching. I've been cross stitching for over 30 years and I still enjoy it very much.

I hope to continue stitching until my hands and eyes won't allow it. So far, my health has been good and I don't have problems with seeing the stitches or the charts. (I do use a very bright light which helps.) My arthritis is only minimal, so I feel blessed to be able to continue to stitch for charity.Peggyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02090982010885385532noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6986724101927807560.post-36074274142286004532015-12-13T20:14:00.000-06:002015-12-13T20:14:25.658-06:00Some Recent Projects

Since we never know how long we will be on this good earth, my husband and I decided on the spur of the moment to join the rest of his close-knit family to celebrate this special occasion. He was honored by the United States Marine Corp. for his exceptional service during World War II, with an honor guard who arrived at the party to give him a special plaque and a speech by the Colonel of the unit.
The charts are geometric shapes of all kinds. We choose which design or designs we'd like to stitch. There are a lot of designs to choose from and some of our members are stitching several. I've only stitched one so far, but hope to stitch a few more before this theme closes next month. They are quick and easy to stitch. We hope the resulting quilt or quilts where they will be used will be stunning.

I've also finished a cute little Angels collage for Love Quilts.

Stitching helps pass the time In the evenings while I watch t.v. I almost always donate my stitched pieces to World of Charity Stitching or Love Quilts. They are both wonderful organizations who bring a little sunshine into the lives of children (Love Quilts) and adults/children (WOCS).
This has been a wonderful outlet for me to help others and get to stitch a lot of various squares. Over the years, I've stitched for family and friends. While I know they have appreciated getting these gifts, this is a limited outlet, especially for someone who loves to stitch like me.

I've been stitching for over 30 years and since my retirement in 2006, I seem to have more time for stitching and sewing.
The Monarch Butterfly for Love Quilts is not my idea of small, but I wanted to post it for others to see. It is a free chart from Cyberstitchers and is stitched for a little girl named Maggie, who wanted a quilt with realistic butterflies. I enjoyed stitching it, but was glad when it was finished-whew! There were a lot of stitches and back-stitching in that one.
