Baby Bibs Traveling to China

I did something a little different for charity recently:  sewed some baby bibs for orphans in China who love bright colors.  These bibs will be traveling to China  with the Love Without Boundaries Cleft Surgery Team.  The bibs were easy to cut and sew and I really enjoyed making them for these precious babies.

This new sewing spree was mainly due to a post I saw on Kristy's Hopeful Threads blog.  Kristy does so much for charity and I love to read her wonderful posts about the many functions she does for charity.

I hope to be able to contribute more bibs later in the year.

Roosters Are Crowing

This cute little Rooster will be one of eight other squares members of my group, World of Charity Stitching, are making for a lap quilt for a senior citizen in a nursing home.  The variety of squares always amazes me when members are choosing their patterns from their stash.  I found this one in a 2001 Cross Stitchers magazine and it was the perfect size for my square.  I have saved many of my magazines over the years and I can usually find a pattern to stitch that our group chooses for a quilt theme.   I enjoy going through the pages looking at all the beautiful charts.   It brings back memories of when I stitched "this piece or that piece" many years ago.

Swallowtail Butterfly

Another finish for Love Quilts.  This piece was a little more difficult than the charts I usually stitch, as I had some trouble with getting the sides even - had to do a quite a bit of frogging and

re-stitching, but I finally finished it.  There was a LOT of backstitching too, which I'm not too fond of.   Whew!

It will be mailed to Love Quilts for a little girl named Ila, along with my last piece.  I usually try to mail two of them at a time to save on postage costs.

Tote Bags for Young Girls

I finished another two tote bags for young girls.  These will be given as gifts to a domestic violence shelter.     The butterfly piece was stitched by another member of my group, World of Charity Stitching and sent to me to be made into a tote bag.

The "Believe" square is a free chart I downloaded from Lady Kell of Kincavel Krosses.  There are many free charts on her website that are very nice for these type of projects.
