Two Tote Bags Finished for WOCS

I was in a sewing mood yesterday and finished two totes for my group, World of Charity Stitching, who donates to a nursing home.

New Square for Love Quilts

This square was stitched for a quilt for a boy who loves Louisiana and I chose a Mallard Duck.  This was a fairly quick project.  Sometimes I tend to find difficult charts, but this one was easy.

A Gift for Friends

Two of my Organic Garden Club friends are celebrating their 50th anniversary; in this day of no marriages, fast marriages, and instant divorces, that is quite an accomplishment.
We are planning to attend their party next month and I have stitched up a small piece, as I like to give personal gifts if possible.

I modified the original chart to make it more personal for my friends.

Two New Squares for World of Charity Stitching

I've been really busy stitching for WOCS - we have a Silly Cow quilt in the works and I did a fill-in square for the man's Ships quilt.

Just started on a new square for Love Quilts for a young boy who loves Louisiana.  I am stitching a Mallard Duck for this one and  so far, it is going well.

Just In Time for Spring - A Beautiful Ruby-Throated Hummingbird

Love Quilts, USA, is getting some really beautiful squares for the Charlotte's Kids realistic birds theme, and my ruby-throated hummingbird fits right in.

For those of you who love to watch real live hummingbirds, now is the time to get your hummingbird feeders cleaned out and the nectar filled.  We saw a male Ruby-throated Hummingbird at our feeder this morning, which was a nice treat.   The males are the first to arrive to scout out nesting sites and then the females follow to build the nests, hatch the eggs and help raise the nestlings.

I had stitched this same pattern many years ago for a friend and she still has it on her wall.  When I stitched it this time around, I didn't do all the flowers in order to get it done quickly.  However, I think it turned out okay even without all the other fushia flowers hanging down.

Cranes For a Cure

Bonnie, one of our wonderful quilters at World of Charity Stitching, has a granddaughter named Lizzy, who has a sister, Becca, with Juvenile Diabetes.  She is trying to raise money to help fight the cure for this terrible disease, in honor of her sister.  Lizzy is nine years old and is making origami cranes for each dollar contributed to the cause.

Please check out this beautiful little girl's tribute to her sister.

Check Out These Great Giveaways

Kitten Finished for WOCS

This one was a doozie!  So many grays/browns and constant color changes.  I will never do this one again and the chart is in the trash.

A Birth Announcement for a Friend

This birth announcement was started back in December when I heard about a new baby on the way, my friend Tim's and his wife, Emma's first baby.  I wanted to get a head start so I could finish it not too long after the birth.  I did most of the stitching of the little deer and the grass last year.  Worked on it a little bit here and there, in between other projects.

Tim told me the name they had picked out, so I stitched that in, and after seeing that it was a little plain, I added the butterflies.

We gave it to Tim yesterday at the gym where my husband and I play senior volleyball three times a week, and he was so excited to receive it.  He gave me and my husband a big hug, which was very nice.

Kitten Chart Started

I've started stitching a little kitten face for WOCS to be made into a lap quilt; however, I had to change some of the thread colors, as there were too many purple combinations.  I have no idea how it will turn out, but it will have to do.  I'm almost half-way finished and I'll post the picture soon.

I've also signed up for another couple of squares for Love Quilts:  a beautiful yellow butterfly resting on an orange flower for a little girl,  and a Mallard duck for a boy in Louisiana who loves the outdoors.
